By: Sydney D I'll be the first to admit that my addiction to TikTok is.....concerning at times. That said, 2021 brought be to an amazing corner of TikTok called "booktok" (aka like Booktubers but for people with shorter attention spans....aka me!)
So at risk of completely exposing my book taste; here are the top five books that made my 2021!

Wow! It's happening guys! *Insert that one The Office meme* I've published a book! It's a children's coloring book geared towards teaching the alphabet. I made it in a way that I personally think is engaging and somewhat funny.
It can be purchased though Amazon only as of right now and in print only. Here is the link if you'd like to get the book for either your little one or someone you know who will like it! I’ve spent the past months trying to write something, anything really, that would be funny or informational, or bring some sense of “togetherness” in this trying time. But instead I’ve been met with a wall of frustration and the inability to articulate the emotions I’m feeling and the proper gravity of the situation at hand. The fact that the words “The situation” could mean the pandemic, riots, protest, hurricanes, wildfires, the devastation in Lebanon, is only another example of the trauma that 2020 has been on the world.
So it's a random Tuesday and you feel like driving up to Colorado? Don't fret, here is some basic ways to make sure you're road trip ready without extensive planning and lots of packing.
by Sydney D Hello! So if you follow me on Twitter you know that every week I hop on Twitter to live tweet about whatever show I am crazy about. Last spring was The 100 and this year is Legacies (while The 100 is on hiatus). So I thought why not make a long format of basically a reaction? Why not ... wait for it ... write a review? I know, not Original(s), but I thought it could be fun. So low and behold the first review of this year:
Hi! This is another "I'm still here" post. Except, it's to say that I wont be promising to upload here more. I've decided that the stress and endless anxiety cycle I was putting myself through by trying to upload the "perfect" blog post was insane. 2020 for me is going to about being healthy and more importantly happy. So! This will probably become like a mix of an instagram type of diary? Or maybe a travel log? Maybe even a health log? Who knows! I just want it to be me.
Anyways, tell me some of your new year promises or maybe a new book that you're reading in the comments below! (I've just caught up on SAGA myself and am now back to reading Red Madder). I am a chronic procrastinator. That is my Achilles' heel so to speak, and as I’ve gotten older I’ve learned to manage it and work on it little by little. That doesn’t take away from the fact that I do have moments were I fall back into old habits of putting things off until it either blows up in my face or I crack under the stress of deadline pressure. (We won’t talk about the irony of my desired career field being nothing but deadlines).
So I guess I wanted to pop back on my blog and talk about balance. How do you balance your life and stay on track? I personally use planners and “tricking” my psyche into thinking the deadline is a lot closer than it actually is. Obviously nobody is perfect and we all have moments where we fall off the wagon so to speak. But is there anyone who uses techniques that work more often than not? I am planning on making another Bullet journal (my old one turned into an art/junk journal) for my writing and keeping my planner purley for school. I will do a “flip through” of my journal sometime in the future maybe! Just because some of the art spreads are actually pretty good. Anyways! That is all for this mini rant/ramble. Just kind of wanted to type. Leave a comment below on how you keep balance in your life and if you use a Bullet Journal show me what spreads you have in it! I've been extremely bad at keeping up with this blog- I know. But to be fair I haven't really done anything blog worthy since going to go see Kiss. I've been pretty busy with school and work! I'm just popping on here to let y'all know that I'm reopening my Redbubble and there should be some new designs on there soon and I also have a few items on Bonfire as well which you can check out (way) below!
I'm also thinking of doing more book reviews on here, just because I really liked doing that on my former blog and it was pretty fun all around. So expect one coming up in a few weeks about Red Madder by Stephen King! (Which btw, I know have a "bookshelf" page if you want to see what I'm reading! And also what I am writing on my Wattpad!!) Last Monday Kiss rolled though Houston for the last time on for their End of The Road tour, a conclusion to a forty-six (forty-eight when the tour concludes in 2021) year run. I’m not really going to go on a review of the concert itself (It was amazing, fantastic, like nothing went wrong), but more on the experience that the concert gave me.
Kiss is one of my Mom’s favorite bands, it was music that she grew up on with the likes of AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and Guns N’ Roses. It’s also some of the music I listened to when introduced to rock music, so when Kiss came into town, I decided to surprise her by buying last minute tickets. Which leads me into what I really think was the best part of seeing Kiss live: Connecting with my Mom though music and getting to see her through a light I’ve never really seen her before, a fan of rock. (My Mom playing CDs is one thing, watching her scream the lyrics to I Was Made for Loving You while lasers and a pyro show goes off is another). It was amazing going though the process of getting ready for a concert, standing in line while it rained, and checking out the merch table together. That I feel like was the theme for most people that night, yes it is Kiss’ last tour (allegedly *cough* Farewell Tour ’01 *cough*), but it was also a lot of peoples first Kiss tour. Whether it was parents taking their kids for the first time, people re-seeing them for the hundredth time, or like my Mom- reliving a love for music that she’s always had. Anyways I just felt like sharing that and I hope that maybe everyone gets the chance to see their parents favorite (or well one of their favorite) bands with them at least once! As always thank you for reading and until next time…. Love, Sydney |
