By: Sydney. D Last week my family and I packed a bag and drove to Austin (well, technically Big Bend, but Austin was on the way)! It was a post-surviving finals trip for myself and also the only Texas date for The Maine’s spring tour for their newest album You Are Okay. I had never seen them live before so I went with an open mind and honestly I was nowhere close to disappointed.
Speaking of discographies, I should probably be 100% upfront now. I was totally a casual fan of the band for years, I remember listening to their album Can’t Stop Won’t Stop and Pioneer some in middle school and I really loved American Candy in high school. However, I always hung out in the outskirts of the bands orbit (Let’s blame my extreme heavy metal phase on that). That being said, their most recent album You Are Ok has completely changed that. The album has been on repeat for months now and has pushed me to check out the band’s other works. However I say all this, to explain that I went into The Maine knowing maybe five to seven songs (maybe), but I still had a great time. And that is probably the best thing about the entire experience, yes the music was good, the band had amazing energy and chemistry on stage. But for me, what stood out was the fact that someone who was a new fan could still have fun and enjoy the experience without feeling left out or lost. It was very much a concert about enjoying your time, experiencing the magic has a group and (pun intended) being okay. If you want to check out Grayscale you can do that here!
