By: Sydney D I'll be the first to admit that my addiction to TikTok is.....concerning at times. That said, 2021 brought be to an amazing corner of TikTok called "booktok" (aka like Booktubers but for people with shorter attention spans....aka me!)
So at risk of completely exposing my book taste; here are the top five books that made my 2021!

by Sydney D Hello! So if you follow me on Twitter you know that every week I hop on Twitter to live tweet about whatever show I am crazy about. Last spring was The 100 and this year is Legacies (while The 100 is on hiatus). So I thought why not make a long format of basically a reaction? Why not ... wait for it ... write a review? I know, not Original(s), but I thought it could be fun. So low and behold the first review of this year:
Last Monday Kiss rolled though Houston for the last time on for their End of The Road tour, a conclusion to a forty-six (forty-eight when the tour concludes in 2021) year run. I’m not really going to go on a review of the concert itself (It was amazing, fantastic, like nothing went wrong), but more on the experience that the concert gave me.
Kiss is one of my Mom’s favorite bands, it was music that she grew up on with the likes of AC/DC, Led Zeppelin and Guns N’ Roses. It’s also some of the music I listened to when introduced to rock music, so when Kiss came into town, I decided to surprise her by buying last minute tickets. Which leads me into what I really think was the best part of seeing Kiss live: Connecting with my Mom though music and getting to see her through a light I’ve never really seen her before, a fan of rock. (My Mom playing CDs is one thing, watching her scream the lyrics to I Was Made for Loving You while lasers and a pyro show goes off is another). It was amazing going though the process of getting ready for a concert, standing in line while it rained, and checking out the merch table together. That I feel like was the theme for most people that night, yes it is Kiss’ last tour (allegedly *cough* Farewell Tour ’01 *cough*), but it was also a lot of peoples first Kiss tour. Whether it was parents taking their kids for the first time, people re-seeing them for the hundredth time, or like my Mom- reliving a love for music that she’s always had. Anyways I just felt like sharing that and I hope that maybe everyone gets the chance to see their parents favorite (or well one of their favorite) bands with them at least once! As always thank you for reading and until next time…. Love, Sydney Sad Summer Fest was a blast! I did a full review over on Bearded Gentlemen Music if you'd like to read it!
By: Sydney. D Last week my family and I packed a bag and drove to Austin (well, technically Big Bend, but Austin was on the way)! It was a post-surviving finals trip for myself and also the only Texas date for The Maine’s spring tour for their newest album You Are Okay. I had never seen them live before so I went with an open mind and honestly I was nowhere close to disappointed.
By: Sydney Durst First things first, I am by no means a music review professional, but I thought it would be cool to share my thoughts on The Maine's newest album (especially since I'll be seeing them live twice this year). So without further ado, here it is:
It was the summer of 2015, end of July in Dallas Texas, and hot as all get out. But off of I-30 right smack dab in the middle of Fair Park in South Dallas was Warped Tour. Fifty bands from all over the country- and sometimes world- in one spot for one day (until they head down to Houston to do it again), and I was there to see it right in the middle of me being fifteen. It was my very first time listening to all of those bands I bought CD’s of and it was also my first ever music festival.
